Zion Williamson hasn’t played in an NBA game since January. Despite that, the New Orleans Pelicans All-Star has remained in the headlines for various reasons. While Williamson has yet to respond to the report at the time of writing, his Pelicans teammate, Larry Nance Jr., answered back for him.
Zion Williamson reportedly has “no interest” in adding moves such as the floater and pull-up jumper to his offensive arsenal. According to FS1’s Ric Bucher, Williamson isn’t keen on developing his scoring repertoire.
The New Orleans Pelicans beat the Golden State Warriors by a final score of 94-86 to earn their first victory of the NBA2K24 summer league. They were led by trio of players who were anticipated to be difference-makers in the proceedings.
The New Orleans Pelicans didn’t trade Zion Williamson before or during the 2023 NBA Draft. However, the All-Star could still be moved. According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT, the Pelicans could trade Williamson if the right package is presented to them.
The 22-year-old point guard Lewis was the Pelicans’ lottery pick in 2020. But he hasn’t gotten his NBA career off the ground with just 5.8 points and 1.9 assists a game over three seasons with New Orleans.
With the basketball world eagerly awaiting the first minutes of Victor Wembanyana — Friday has already been ruled a sell out, the New Orleans Pelicans will kick off their Las Vegas summer league schedule against the Minnesota Timberwolves later today.
The Pelicans have converted the two-way contract for forward E.J. Liddell to a standard deal, per the NBA transactions log. Liddell, 22, will receive a three-year, $6.2 million contract with a player option in year three, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Pelicans free agent combo forward Herbert Jones is set to re-sign with New Orleans, his Priority Sports agents Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller inform Adrian Wojnarowski and Andrew Lopez of ESPN (Twitter link).
By locking him up this offseason as opposed to waiting until later, it allows the Pels to get a great deal on a defensive cornerstone instead of him having another strong season and demanding more money on the market next year in free agency.
